This is how you proceed with a wedding inquiry at Lakeview:
Contact the Church
We recommend contacting the church and a minister as far in advance as possible. You may do this by contacting the church office (306.586.7844) or email them at lakeviewuc@sasktel.net.
Meeting with the Minister
To confirm your wedding date, you will require two or three meetings with the officiating minister. These meetings provide the opportunity for you to get to know the minister better and to plan your wedding ceremony. A deposit of at least half the total cost is required to finalize the booking—usually after the first meeting with the minister once you have decided that this is indeed the place for you to be married.
Marriage Preparation
We strongly recommend the completion of an approved marriage preparation course well in advance of the wedding date. These courses help you build and strengthen the foundation of a happy and healthy marriage. The minister will, in discussion with you, determine if this is a necessary step for you to take.
Documents
In the province of Saskatchewan, you will need a valid marriage license. This may be obtained between three months and up to 36 hours before the wedding date from a jewelry store or bridal boutique and is valid for three months. A ceremonial marriage certificate is provided to you by the church on your wedding day.
A legal marriage certificate, issued by the Government of Saskatchewan, is also available for a fee, from Vital Statistics at the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health and can be ordered online usually six weeks after the wedding.
Rehearsal
The rehearsal provides an opportunity for all those involved in the wedding service to become familiar with the church setting and the format you have chosen. Normally all those directly involved in the service (the wedding party and anyone walking down the aisle) are present. This happens the day before the wedding.
Wedding Ceremony
The minister has a great selection of wedding prayers and vows available to assist you in planning a wedding ceremony that is meaningful and best expresses your commitment to one another—other readings, prayers, and vows can be found online. The church has an incredibly talented music director available to play the organ or grand piano situated in the Worship Centre. While live music is the best fit for most weddings and can be tailored to meet your musical needs. The church also has a sound system for recorded music.
Printed Programs
Wedding programs are the responsibility of the wedding couple. Information regarding the order of the service for the wedding ceremony will be obtained from the minister.
Wedding Fee
We ask that you submit the balance of the wedding fee and your marriage license to the church office at least one week prior to the wedding. We charge a package fee of $850.00 (including deposit) for weddings at Lakeview. This covers the minister, planning appointments, rental of the space, church musician, and people to run the audio-visual equipment on the wedding day.
Continued Care and Support
We are here for you before your wedding, on your wedding day, and in the years after you make your commitment to each other. You are not alone. We can provide continued pastoral support as needed, weekly Sunday services (10:30 AM) to challenge and inspire you, and a community that will welcome you with open arms should you choose to participate.
