While Sue is away on holidays we be showcasing various relavent sermons from YouTube.
Jacob was not always the best guy. A second son, destined to receive nothing of his father’s wealth after his death, Jacob robbed his brother of his birthright and of Isaac’s blessing. On his way to find an appropriate daughter from among his Mother’s clan and tribe Jacob became weary and lay down to rest. He is given a vision and a promise. So moved was he that he set up a stone as an altar to mark the spot and named it Bethel—house of God. We too share the promises that were given. We don’t have to be perfect for God to love us. We don’t have to be perfect for God to bless us. But we do need to pay attention when God calls. Recognize it. Mark it. And then live that promise out. When we experience a time of closeness with God how do we mark it, how do we hold it in memory, how do we honor it—what happens if we don’t? Life steals our memories and we forget that God is with us.
